Molecular Cytogenetic Analysis (FISH) of Sperm Aneuploidies
Male infertility can result from meiotic recombination errors that lead to the production of aneuploid sperm. Fertilization by such sperm may result in pathological embryos and increased risk of miscarriages.
This test detects numerical chromosomal abnormalities involving chromosomes 13, 15, 16, 18, 21, 22, as well as sex chromosomes X and Y. It is recommended for men with repeated failed IVF attempts, unexplained miscarriages, or who are carriers of chromosomal translocations.
Sample Type: Semen sample collected in a sterile container following 3 days of sexual abstinence.
