HPV DNA Test
The risk of cervical cancer increases significantly in women over 30 years of age. Cervical cancer can be prevented and effectively treated if detected early and managed appropriately.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), cervical cancer ranks as the fourth most common cancer among women worldwide.
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is the causative agent in approximately 95% of cervical cancer cases. HPV is a virus transmitted primarily through sexual contact. Various HPV types exist, some of which may induce cervical lesions that can, over time, progress to cervical cancer.
The HPV DNA test is particularly useful for pre-screening sexually active girls and women prior to vaccination. Vaccination does not provide complete protection against cervical cancer; therefore, vaccinated women should continue to undergo regular HPV DNA testing.
At our center, the HPV DNA test is accredited according to ISO 15189:2022 by the Hellenic Accreditation System (ESYD).
